Ripple Player

Support

Ripple Player puts the whole albums in your Apple Music library on a shelf as records. Pull one out, put it on, and it plays from the first track to the last, with nothing queued behind it. It works on every iPhone, and on iPhone Duo it opens like a laptop.

Getting started

  1. Open the app and allow access to Apple Music when asked. Your albums appear on the shelf as spines.
  2. If you like, let the water hear the music: allow the microphone when asked, or choose Not now.
  3. Tap a spine to pull the record out, then put it on with the button on its sleeve.
  4. Play, pause and skip from the turntable, the Lock Screen or your headphones.

Questions

My shelf is empty.
Only whole albums go on the shelf: albums with every song saved in your Apple Music library. Tap the search button, find an album on Apple Music and choose “Put on my shelf”. The whole album joins your library and your shelf at once.
An album I own is missing.
Albums with only some of their songs saved stay off the shelf, and so do singles. Settings has a switch, “Show singles and part-saved albums”, to show them too. If you took a record off the shelf, Settings lists it under “Records off the shelf”, with “Put back”.
Where are the tracks?
On the back of the sleeve. While a record plays, tap its sleeve and it turns over to the track list. Tap again to turn it back.
Can I play just one track, or shuffle?
No. A record plays from the first track to the last. To go to another track, lift the needle and set it down there, or use the skip buttons.
Why is the water moving?
If you let the app use the microphone, the water ripples with the music while a record plays. It listens only then, and the sound never leaves your phone. iOS shows its orange dot while it listens. To turn it off, switch off “Water hears the music” in Settings.
A record will not play.
Most music needs an Apple Music subscription, which comes from Apple; the app offers Apple’s own subscription page when that is the reason. Offline, only albums you have downloaded in Apple Music can play.
Does it change my Apple Music library?
Only when you ask it to: “Put on my shelf” adds an album to your library. Taking a record off the shelf hides it in Ripple Player only.
Can it play the next record by itself?
Yes, if you want it to. It’s off at first. In Settings, switch on “Keep playing the next record” and the next record on the shelf plays when one ends.
I’d like a refund.
Ripple Player is bought from Apple, so Apple handles refunds. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, choose “I’d like to”, then “Request a refund”, give a reason and pick Ripple Player.
